Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer a range of outdoor construction solutions designed to meet your needs—whether you're dreaming of a future project, or ready to transform your outdoor area, we are here to help.

  • The best material for an outdoor shower is western red cedar or pressure-treated lumber wrapped in cedar. Cedar naturally resists rot, insects, and moisture, making it ideal for year-round outdoor exposure. It also weathers beautifully and requires minimal maintenance.

For plumbing, we typically recommend copper piping and brass fixtures, which hold up far better outdoors than chrome or plastic components.

  • Yes! Most of our showers include both hot and cold water.
We connect to existing hose bibs or interior plumbing and install proper backflow protection and mixing valves so you get a comfortable shower just like indoors.

  • Our outdoor showers are designed to be fully winterized in minutes if the piping allows.

    Typical winterizing steps:

    1. Shut off water supply from the home

    2. Open the shower valves to drain the lines

    3. Open the drain valve (installed during construction)

    4. Leave valves slightly open for the winter

This prevents freezing and protects the plumbing. In certain instances where there is a low point in the piping, it is recommended to blow the lines out using pressurized air, which is a similar process to winterizing a sprinkler system.

  • We offer flexible pricing based on project type and complexity, and always do our best to achieve the best value within your budget. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide an estimated price range, and begin working on your detailed proposal with material estimates and drawings.

    Cost is influenced by:

    • Distance from the available plumbing tie-ins

    • Drainage requirements

    • Overall size of enclosure

    • Fixtures and materials selected

    • Add-ons like benches, shelves, hooks, etc.

Every project is custom, which gives us the flexibility to tailor the scope of work to your budget, all while achieving the best possible finished product.

  • The best location balances privacy, sun exposure, and plumbing access.

    Ideal placement:

    • Close to the house (simpler plumbing and lower cost)

    • Receives sunlight (faster drying to keep wood healthy for years to come)

    • Naturally private or easy to screen

    • Close to your realistic access point, whether that be a door to your home, a pool, a sauna, etc.

We help you choose the ideal location during our initial consultation, finding the right balance for your shower location.

  • Yes — we carry full liability insurance and provide a certificate of insurance at the start of every project.

Licensing in the outdoor shower and fencing world works differently in many jurisdictions. Most jurisdictions do not issue a single county- or state-wide contractor license for the type of work we perform. Instead, they typically require a local contractor registration in each specific town or jurisdiction where work is being performed. We are registered in all locations where we typically work.

    We handle this by:

    • Registering with towns as needed for active projects

    • Following local building and permit requirements

    • Working directly with homeowners to ensure compliance

This approach ensures every project is completed responsibly and in accordance with local codes and regulations.

If your town requires contractor registration or documentation, we will take care of that as part of the project process.
